We heard on Friday  that the UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority would not be banning most services of the Blackberry. Today was the actual deadline and, yes, my BlackBerry is alive and kicking. (My arthritic thumbs may still push for an iPhone.)

So, now the parlor game is what happened? Did RIM give the UAE access to all of our e-mails, IMs, web traffic? Is there a server now located on UAE soil? Did RIM simply just mean what it said when it told UAE authorities that it could not provide the sort of access that the government was asking for? How do the “resolutions” with Saudi and India come into play with this?

The only sure answer is that we won’t know.
